"My mother always said don't judge a day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you sow. In the world of a mystic, a well-tended seed is the key to a solid harvest."
Ssaanyu was born to a poor, single mother in the heart of a vast desert kingdom. Her mother was a tarot card reader, and though she possessed no magical powers, she used her wits and smooth talking to trick her customers out of their money and gems. Ssaanyu began showing magical tendencies at an early age, and though she was too poor for proper schooling, her mother tirelessly educated her using stolen books and broken botany supplies found in the marketplace streets.
Ssaanyu’s mother died from an illness at a young age, leaving to her daughter her fortuneteller’s caravan and an old camel to pull it. Ssaanyu ventured out of the desert and into the far East, collecting many interesting artifacts and magical supplies on her journey, and eventually came across an enormous foreign palace by the far sea. There she spent several years as a business apprentice by day and a fortuneteller by night, saving each coin earned as she worked toward a better future for herself.
After war broke out in her adopted home, she packed up and set out in the caravan again. This time Ssaanyu directed her travel to a place she had heard much about from travelling merchants and dignitaries: a huge city of enormous wealth and opportunity for those in need of a fresh start.
A place called Mew York.
